Vekeda Real Walkway is a paved path over the Canyon Lake dam, connecting Overlook Park and North Park. This walkway offers amazing views of the southern portion of Canyon Lake and the dam area.
While Overlook Park and North Park have no designated swim areas, many who use the Vekeda Real Walkway choose to take a dip in the clear waters before or after their walk.
This 7.6-mile rocky trail is great for hiking or mountain biking. The trail is currently free to use, but signs at the park will advise of any changes. There is ample parking at the trailhead lot. If you work up a sweat on your hike or ride, cool off at Swim Beach #1 or relax in Canyon Park when you’re done.

The largest park on Canyon Lake, Canyon Park offers many ways to spend a beautiful day. There are three different trail loops within the park, plus picnic tables, grills, and unofficial swim areas. And the views don’t disappoint.
There are some quiet, shallow coves in the park that are great for cooling off in the clear waters of Canyon Lake. And while most of the picnic tables have little or no shade, you can find areas with trees that will provide some relief from the sun.
Fees: $5 per vehicle if registered in Comal County; $20 per vehicle for all others
Open: Daily, year-round
Hours: 8 am to sunset
